Business School “BNU Socius” Team Visiting Helsinki of Finland

On May 2016, the BNU Business School MBA Student Team represented by Ji Lihui, GuYunpeng, Gao Yichen and Li Mingyi visited Helsinki, the capital of Finland for five days. They were invited by the Finnish company CESIM as an commendation to their excellent performance on the “
尖烽时刻仁盈杯” Business Simulation Competition; also to further enhance communication on the application of business simulation systems.


 
The first stop was Aalto University, which was established in 2010 as a priority project in the Finnish university renewal, being a merger of three major Finnish universities: the Helsinki University of Technology (established 1849), the Helsinki School of Economics (established 1904), and the University of Art and Design Helsinki (established 1871). The idea was to create a new innovative university merging science and technology, design and art, as well as business and economics.
 
At Aalto, the BNU MBA students met with Prof. Ilkka Vesterinen from the Business School to further communicate on the application of business simulation systems in business education. Mr. Ilkka Vesterinen has taught in Aaltoas a guest professor since 1994, he is also a core member of the business simulation system development team, and one of CESIM’s shareholders. He has integrated rich teaching experiences and business experiences into system development, increasing the reality of simulation environments.

 
 
 
 

 
The second stop was the University of Helsinki, which is the oldest and largest institution of academic education in Finland, an international scientific community of 40,000 students and researchers. The University of Helsinki is the only Finnish university to consistently rank in the top 100 of international university rankings. In 2015, the University of Helsinki placed 76th in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking and 96th in the QS World University Ranking. The internationally popular Linux computer operating system was invented here in October 5th, 1991.

The BNU MBA students were greatly impressed by its library, which is the largest multidisciplinary university library in Finland. Helsinki University Library is an independent institute of the University of Helsinki and open to all information seekers.Electronic materials are available for use to all customers in the library facilities and for the university community also online.

 
 

The third stop was the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. EVTEK University of Applied Sciences and Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia merged into Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences which began operations on August 1st, 2008. At Metropolia, the BNU MBA Team was received by the University International Office Head and Business School Dean. The BNU representative Ji Lihui introduced BNU Business School and its MBA program, both parties discussed issues in entrepreneurship support, academic mode and the university education system, etc. Metropolia representatives have showed great interest in the diversified communication forms of business schools, and expressed the hope for further cooperation with Beijing Normal University in the future.

 
 
Through this five-day communication event, the BNU Business School representatives were able to further understand the culture and humanities of Finland . Discussions with local students and prestigious professors opened their minds and enhanced their understanding on management and practice. This mutual communication opportunity also promoted the brand influence of BNU MBA, allowing more foreign institutes to know about Beijing Normal University and its Business School; thus creating more international cooperation opportunities in the future.
