Vice Provost of College of William and Mary Visited Our College

On the afternoon of May 22, Professor Stephen Hanson, vice provost and director of International Exchange Center of William and Mary College of America and his delegation visited our School. Secretary Sun Zhijun met with the guests. Assistant Dean Cai Hongbo, deputy director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office Xie Jia attended the meeting.


 

Secretary Sun welcomed the delegation's visit. Cai Hongbo introduced to the guests the history, discipline composition, scientific research advantages, as well as the network and focus of international exchanges of our School. Professor Hanson firstly introduced Berhanu Abegaz, dean of the Department of Economics of WM, Daniel Maliniak, assistant professor of the Department of Government of WM, Dr. Dania Matos, director of the Diversity Office of the Department of Government of WM, and professor Wang Deliang, associate professor of the School of Foreign Languages at Beijing Normal University and director of the Confucius institute at the College of William and Mary. After that, Professor Hanson briefly introduced the basic situation of William and Mary College, and expressed his willingness to cooperate with our school in scientific research, degree programs, student exchanges and other aspects.

 

The College of William and Mary is located in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA and is one of the most famous public universities and Ivy League in America. Founded in 1693, with a grant from King William III and Queen Mary II, then co-governors, it is the second oldest university in the United States after Harvard. The school has many outstanding alumni, including four U.S. presidents (Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, John Tyler, and George Washington), four Supreme Court justices, eight presidential cabinets, as well as governors, senators and other government officials, academic, business, and cultural elites. The university is ranked 38th (overall) in 2019 by US NEWS, and 5th in undergraduate teaching.
