In order to further strengthen the training of teachers and researchers in the field of international trade, promote the popularization of new theories of international trade, strengthen the promotion of new methods of empirical research, and guide the emergence of new research fields, , BNUBS has successfully held two public welfare training sessions of "National Frontiers in International Economics Research" in 2017 and 2018. Each time, nearly 400 teachers and students from more than 100 colleges and universities across the country participated in the training, and the response was very enthusiastic. BNUBS will continue to hold the third "National Frontiers in International Economics" public welfare training from May 28 to June 1, 2019. This training will invite national famous economists, young and middle-aged well-known scholars and excellent doctoral students to give lectures and guidance on major practical issues of international trade, new development of international trade theory, academic frontiers of international trade, empirical methods of measurement, subject application and paper publication, etc. In order to improve the scientific level and talent training quality of the discipline of world economy and international trade in China, we will also discuss and exchange experience with the participants on teaching and talent training. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

. Introduction of Distinguished Economists

 

 

Hong Junjie is the dean, professor, doctoral supervisor and deputy director of the Academic Committee of the School of International Economics and Trade, University of International Business and Economics. He is a Distinguished professor of "Cheungkong Scholars" of the Ministry of Education, Outstanding Young Talents of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program" (the first batch), New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education, chief expert of major projects of the National Social Science Fund, expert of special government allowance of The State Council, expert of economic and Trade Policy Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Commerce. He is also a Member of the Global Issues Council of the World Economic Forum (2012-2014), Deputy Secretary General of the National Association of International Trade Disciplines, nominee of the "China Economics Top Award" of the Contemporary Economics Foundation, judge of the National Social Science Foundation, National Natural Science Foundation, and Major Public relations Projects of social Science of the Ministry of Education. His research interests include international trade, international business, regional and transportation economics. He has published more than 60 academic papers and monographs, including nearly 20 SSCI journals including international first-class academic journals and top domestic journals. For example, internationally renowned academic journals such as Journal of International Business Studies, World Economy and Urban Studies, as well as domestic top academic journals such as Chinese Social Sciences, Economic Research and Management World. His published papers is one of the most cited papers in SSCI in logistics and logistics outsourcing field. He has presided over more than 20 provincial and ministerial projects, such as major projects funded by the National Social Science Fund. He has submitted dozens of high-quality policy proposals, many of which have attracted the attention and attention of central leaders. 

 

Huo Jianguo is the Vice President of China Society for Wto Studies, and former President of The Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce. He is a Doctor of Economics, researcher, doctoral supervisor, expert enjoying special allowance of The State Council. His research direction is world economy and international trade, and he has been engaged in foreign trade management and policy research for a long time. He once served as deputy Director of The Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of the State Economic and Trade Commission and deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Commerce. He has participated in the negotiations of China's accession to WTO and APEC work. After China's accession to WTO, he took the lead in organizing and studying the countermeasures of 14 national industrial sectors and achieved positive results. Moreover, he undertook many key scientific research projects of National philosophy and social sciences as well as major research projects of the Ministry of Commerce. He participated in the "Study on china-us Economic and Trade Relations in the Next Decade" jointly organized by the Tung Chee-hwa Foundation, the China Center for International Economic Exchanges and the Ministry of Commerce. He has published hundreds of articles in core journals such as International Trade, International Economic Review and China Economic and Trade Guide, and published works such as "China's Foreign Trade and National Competitiveness" and "Carrying On the Past and Opening up The World Trade". He has greater influence in the world economy, international trade and WTO research.

 

Long Xiaoning is professor and PhD supervisor of Wang Yanan Research Institute and School of Economics, Xiamen University, and chairman of the Department of Economics. She is a distinguished professor of "Cheungkong Scholars" of the Ministry of Education, a member of the Subject Appraisal Group of The State Council, a national candidate of "Hundreds of Talents Plan" and "Leading Talents Plan for Universities" of Fujian Province. She is also Zhang Peigang Development Economics Excellence Award winner, Glenn Campbell and Rita Ricardo Campbell National Prize winner, Hoover Institution, Stanford University, Co-editor of China Economic Review and China Economic Issues. She received his Ph.D. in economics from Washington University (St. Louis). From 2001 to 2011, she was tenured at Cogard University. Using empirical methods of law and economics, Professor Long has made pioneering studies on the interaction between foreign trade and foreign investment, enterprise development, economic growth and institutional arrangements in China. Her work has been published in the Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of International Economics, and Journal of International academic journals such as Comparative Economics, domestic journals such as Economic Research, Economics (Quarterly), Management World, and World Economy. She has also co-authored a book in English on Foreign Direct Investment in China: Winners and Losers. 

Sheng Bin, Dean, professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Economics, Nankai University is a distinguished Professor of "Cheungkong Scholars", Ministry of EducationLeading talents in philosophy and Social Sciences of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program", cultural masters and "Four Batch" talents. He is selected into the National Talent Project, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions, members of the Subject Evaluation Group (Theoretical Economics) of the Academic Degrees Committee of The State Council, experts enjoying the Special government allowance of The State Council, "Outstanding Professor" of Nankai University. He is also the President of China APEC Research Institute, Nankai University; Executive editor of International Trade Issues, deputy editor of Nankai Economic Research; Fulbright Foundation Senior Visiting Scholar (2008-2009) and China-eu Higher Education Cooperation Visiting Scholar (1999-2000), Vice President of National American Economic Association, Deputy Secretary General and Executive Director of China World Economic Association and Deputy Secretary General of International Trade Cooperation Group of National Universities. His main research fields are world economy, international trade, Asia-Pacific economy, international political economy, etc. He has been awarded the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award, The Funding Program for Excellent Young Teachers of the Ministry of Education, the Outstanding Achievement Award for Scientific Research in Higher Education (Humanities and Social Sciences) of the Ministry of Education, the Anzijie International Trade Research Award of China, the Young University Teacher Award of Fok Yingdong Education Foundation, and the President Award of China Society of World Economics (Pushan Award). He has published dozens of papers in China Economic Review, China Social Sciences, Economic Research, Management World, Economics (Quarterly), World Economy and other authoritative journals. 

 

 

Song Hong is deputy director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In 2009, he was selected as the national candidate of "New Century Talents Project", and in 2012, he was awarded the Special allowance of The State Council. From 2012 to 2016, he served as the Chief Researcher of International Trade Discipline of Innovation Engineering, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; From 2017 to 2021, he was the Great Wall Scholar of Innovation Engineering of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and a visiting scholar of Columbia University. The main research areas are foreign direct investment and transnational corporations, international trade, and comparative research on the economic development of developing countries. He has published more than 60 academic papers on professional academic journals such as Economic Research, Management World, Reform, World Economy, International Economic Review, World Economy and Politics, and International Trade.

Yao Shujie, professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Economics and Business Administration, Chongqing University. He is the Deputy Director of Social Science Department of Chongqing University, Chief expert of Chongqing (economics), Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars of Ministry of Education. He is the Founding Dean of the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies, University of Nottingham, renowned Chinese economist, Distinguished lecture professor of Fudan University and Xi'an Jiaotong University and Vice Chairman, National Association of Chinese Professional Bodies. For more than 20 years, he has served as a senior economic Adviser to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the European Union and other international multilateral organizations. He is also the editor of Journal of Comparative Economics, Food Policy, Journal of Contemporary China, Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies, Economic Research, Contemporary Economic Science, and   Journal of Xi'an Jiaotong University(Social Sciences). He has published 10 English monographs and more than 100 papers. In 2006, an article published in asian-pacific ECONOMICLITERATURE ranked professor Yao shujie as the eighth most influential scholar in the field of Chinese economic issues in the world.  

 

. Introduction of Middle-aged and young experts and scholars

 

Mao Qilin is an Associate professor of School of Economics, Nankai University, doctoral supervisor, doctor of Economics, Nankai University, One of the hundred young academic leaders of Nankai University, tianjin Youth top. His research interests include international trade, international investment and development economics. He has published nearly 30 papers in China Economic Review, Economics of Transition, Review of Development Economics, Economic Research, Management World, Economics (Quarterly), and World Economy presided over one general project and one youth project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and his Representative monographs are published in the Commercial Press. He has won an Zijie International Trade Research Award twice, and provincial and ministerial academic awards, such as Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award in Economics of China, Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award in Tianjin, Excellent Achievement Award in Social Sciences of Tianjin, Doctoral Graduate Academic Newcomer Award of The Ministry of Education. He is the anonymous reviewer of The World Economy, China Economic Review, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, Economic Research, Management World and project review expert of National Natural Science Foundation of China. Five of his masterpieces have been selected as the top ten Chinese papers (TOP10) by China Economic Yearbook and World Economic Yearbook.

 

 

Ni Hongfu: Associate professor, Institute of Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, PhD in Economics, Peking University. His research interests include global value chain theory and its application, international economics, service economics and industrial economics. He has published more than 20 papers in Economic Research, Management World, World Economy, Chinese Industrial Economics, Statistical Research, Quantitative And Technical Economics, Finance and Trade Economics and other authoritative journals at home and abroad. He has presided over the national Natural Science General project, National Natural Science Youth Fund project and Beijing Natural Science Foundation project, and participated in the research work of national Natural Science Foundation project and national Social Science Foundation project as a core member. He has participated in more than ten projects of national ministries and local governments, such as "Pre-study on the Development Strategy of service industry during the 13th Five-Year Plan period" and "Study on the Development Strategy of Service Industry 2025", which were conducted by the National Development and Reform Commission.

 

 

Shao Chaodui: Lecturer, School of Economics, Nankai University, doctor of Economics, Nankai University. His main research fields are international economics, regional economics and new political economy. In recent years, he has published more than ten papers in journals such as Economic Research, Management World and World Economy. He was awarded the 5th Tan Chongtai Prize for Development Economics and the 20th Anzijie Prize for International Trade Research.

 

 

Tan Xiaofen: Deputy Dean, professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Finance, Central University of Finance and Economics, PhD in Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is the selected candidate of The New Century Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education in 2012, the selected candidate of the Young Talents Program of Beijing Higher Education Institutions in 2013 and Visiting Scholar of Columbia University in 2012-2013. His research areas are international finance, monetary policy, international commodity markets and corporate leverage. In recent years, he has presided over the national Natural Science Foundation of China 2018 Emergency Management project "Preventing and Resolving Financial Risks" (key project), General Project of National Social Science Foundation of China, Major Project of Philosophy and Social Science Research Of Ministry of Education, Youth Project of Humanities and Social Science of Ministry of Education and Youth Research Innovation Team of Central University of Finance and Economic. He is the chief expert of the "RMB Internationalization" project of the Center for Global Economy and Sustainable Development, Central University of Finance and Economics. He has published more than 100 academic papers in China and World Economy, World Economy, Financial Research, China Industrial Economics, Finance and Trade Economics, International Finance Research and other journals. He has published 2 monographs and more than 60 financial commentary articles.

Zhang Rui is a ph. D. candidate at the National School of Development, Peking University. After graduating in June 2019, he will join the Faculty of Economics and Business Economics at the School of Business and Social Sciences, Aarhus University. His main research interests are international economics, urban and spatial economics, development economics and Chinese economy. He has published academic papers in Economic Research, Management World, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Financial Research, Review of Development Economics and other journals. He has won the FREIT (Forum for Research of Empirical International Trade) Rocky Mountain Empirical Trade Conference (RMET) and International Empirical Trade Research Conference (EIIT) Best Doctoral Thesis Award.

 

Zhang Chuanchuan is an associate professor at the School of Economics, Central University of Finance and Economics. He received his PhD in economics from Peking University. He was a visiting researcher at Harvard University and a research consultant at the World Bank. His academic interests focus on major issues such as aging, social security, international trade, urban development, cultural concepts and economic behavior. He has published more than 30 papers in Journal of Population Economics, Health Economics, Journal of Housing Economics, China Economic Review, Social Sciences in China, Economic Research, Quarterly Journal of Economics, World Economy, Financial Research and acted as an anonymous reviewer of more than 20 journals including Journal of Housing Economics, China Economic Review, Economic System, Economic Research, Quarterly Journal of Economics, And Financial Research. He has also presided over many projects, such as the national Natural Science Foundation of China and the major projects of the National Social Science Foundation of China.
